The Frederick Resource Material for teachers working with toddlersWhy did I write resource material for the toddler age? When assessing children with learning difficulties and behaviour problems one will find certain patterns and areas of difficulties that do not stem from the shortcomings these children have been born with, but which are the result of our changed environment and focus. In most cases the difficulties are not the result of bad parenting. The difficulties arise because of an accumulation of influences which have become part of the ‘normal’ upbringing of most children. In my experience these influences fall into one of the following three areas: The above shortcomings in modern education are now the accepted, unquestioned teaching practice for children as young as one year. I fear for the future! Educators working with the little ones urgently need to rethink some of their teaching practices. Each booklet has in the back, matching the recommended activities, photocopiable Parent Pages which summarises the learning opportunity and benefits for children’s brain development. Available are:
